What is a Wiki?
WICK-ee or WEE-kee, Hawaiian for quick. It is a webpage that lets contributors easily add, remove or edit and change what is at the site.
A wiki can be password protected or open to any user.
It may be useful in the classroom in the following ways:
assess the level of student understanding
give parents insight into their child's learning
social networking
sharing technology projects with parents
Some sites to explore:
http://www.wikispaces.com/
http://www.seedwiki.com/
pbwiki.com
http://www.wetpaint.com/
After viewing the video and looking at the above sites how to you feel about wikis? Do you think it would be useful in the classroom? If so, do you see yourself using wikis? How?
